1. Mac and Cheese with Goan Sausage at Sassy Spoon (Reserve now)
Picante Goan sausages and cheese is a combo fit for the gods – proven here in one carb-heavy skillet-full of mac and cheese.
2. Cheese Sandwich at Haji Ali Juice Centre
There’s so much cheese in this sandwich that the bread almost feels obligatory. It’s basically a grilled cheese sandwich with a MOUNTAIN (capitals very necessary) of grated cheese, melted into a soft, gooey mass. It’s not fancy but it works.
(For something posher, Indigo Deli does a good chilli cheese toast.)
3. Fondue at Moshe’s
Moshe’s has always been a favourite for fondue in the city, and for good reason. It’s a crowd-pleaser made all the better with a nice range of toppings to choose from – including jalapenos, mushrooms, and black olives.
4. Brie Tempura at Fatty Bao
Brie gets the tempura treatment at this Asian gastropub. Basically -fried cheese. Need we say more?
5. Parmesan and Spinach Dumplings at Loco Chino
Loco Chino can be pretty hit-and-miss, but some of their dumplings are really quite good and inventive. The spinach and parmesan dumplings balance the flavours of the two ingredients beautifully, and though some might complain that the dumpling tends to get a bit too gooey, we say it just adds to the cheesy appeal.
6. Waffles Croque Madame at The Pantry (Reserve now)
So a Croque Monsieur is essentially a fried or baked ham and cheese sandwich – lots of butter, lots of cheese, and The Pantry does a great one. A croquet madame, on the other hand, is the same thing topped with a sunny-side-up! The Pantry takes it up yet another notch by doing all this with waffles instead of bread – not to mention béchamel, mustard, and a generous slather of bacon jam.
7. Baked Goat Cheese Bruschetta at Woodside Inn (Reserve now)
A generous serving of goat cheese melts atop bruschetta while a tomato confit cuts the sharpness of the cheese. Hard to beat.
8. Parmesan Waffles at Le 15 Café
Pooja Dhingra hits it out of the park once more at this Parisian-themed café, especially with the crunchy-outside-soft-inside Parmesan waffles, which are served with perfectly poached eggs, tomato and basil sauce, and topped off with more Parmesan. Cheese lovers will also love the burrata here.
9. Burrata at Romano’s – JW Marriott Sahar
Speaking of Burrata – if you’re a fan (and who isn’t) of this creamy cheese, Romano’s does a great one served with pesto and heirloom tomatoes.
10. Kejriwal Toast at The Bombay Canteen (Know more)
Crisp bun, fried egg (yolk runny – naturally), spicy green chutney, and cheese – it’s like a Bombay sandwichwalla met a Parsi uncle and they decided to collaborate on this perfectly simple (and simply perfect) dish.
11. Complete Crepe at Suzette
The buckwheat crepes at Suzette are always great, but this one -with egg, Emmenthal and ham (or chicken bacon) – is, hands down, the winner.
12. Mozzarelline Fritte at Pizza Metro Pizza (Reserve now)
Crispy, fried Mozzarella balls – there’s nothing else to it because what more could you possibly need?
13. Pizza Bianca at Serafina (Reserve now)
Serafina’s famous sauce-less pizza may seem unusual, but holy mother does it work. With fresh Mozzarella, Fontina, and shaved Parmigiana, it’s a cheese lover’s delight. The arugula on top just adds to the beauty. And if you still miss the sauce – order the Quattro Formaggi next!
14. Four Cheese Omelette at Salt Water Café (Reserve now)
Scarmoza, Cheddar, fresh Mozzarella and Grana, all in one perfect omelette.
15. Bacon and Cheese Potato Skins at The Ghetto
16. Mac and Cheese Bites at Eddie’s Bistro
How do you improve on something that’s already perfect? Fry it, of course. That’s right – it’s basically a fried mac and cheese ball, and we cannot get enough!
There are two kinds of people in the world – those who love cheese and those who haven’t tried it yet. After a bite of even one of the dishes on this list, we dare you not to give in to the cheesy side.
