Chicken Burger at Hearsch Bakery
The price tag may be attractive, but it’s the old-school charm of Hearsch’s chicken burger that makes it one of Mumbai’s favourites. With a juicy chicken patty and the slightly sweet mayo that Bombay’s older bakeries favour, its nostalgia packed in a bun.
Steak Chilli Roll in Burger Bun at Gondola
You might be used to having your chilli beef with fried rice, but the fine folks at Gondola make a great case for trying it in a burger bun instead. Glorious chunks of chilli beef sprinkled with thin slices of chillies make for excellent burger filling. Keep a drink at hand. This one’s spicy!
Jalapeno Popper Burger at Between Breads
Between Breads has been making meat lovers happy for some time now, so why leave the vegetarians behind, right? A mixed veggie patty is made irresistible with the addition of three jalapeno poppers adding their cheesy goodness to an already flavourful burger.
Chip Butty at Theobroma
Not technically a burger, but it counts if there’s a burger bun, right? Quibbles aside, Theobroma’s chip butty (literally just French fries in a burger bun) is indulgent and fantastic whether you choose to have it plain, with bacon and eggs, or with chicken. Plus, you’ll be dreaming of their garlic mayo for days.
Smoked English Pork Burger at Maakapow
This delivery-only burger outlet has some of the meatiest burgers around, but it’s their cheese-stuffed pork patty (which comes with caramelised onion, garlic butter and their special house-made chilli sauce) that’s got us drooling. If you’re in the mood for something a little (okay, a lot) bigger, try the Hangover Cure, which includes the aforementioned pork patty with the addition of crisp bacon, fried ham, gherkins, and a fried egg.
Louisiana Crab Burger at Café Free India
Seafood lovers will go gaga for this crispy crab burger, made all the more perfect with caramelised onion and a delicious jalapeno mayonnaise.
Mini Lamb Burgers, Cafe Zoe
Café Zoe’s juicy lamb burgers with mint sauce are delicious and the perfect accompaniment to any one of their yummy cocktails. Two come in a plate, so you can share them as a snack or keep them all to yourself. Sometimes, it pays to be greedy.
The Jawbreaker at Jimis Burgers
This tiny burger outlet in Malad is something of a hidden gem, and the one burger their loyal patrons can’t stop talking about is (funnily enough) the Jawbreaker. Daunting and towering, it includes double chicken patties, double bacon, double chicken salami, a fried egg, cheese, caramelised onions, and hot sauce all crammed between two burger buns.
Chorizo Burger at The Bagel Shop
Do yourself a favour — skip the chorizo bagel just this once. This porcine delight doesn’t just include a juicy chorizo burger, but chorizo salsa, cheese, and crispy slices of bacon as well. Piggy heaven!
Black Bean Burger at The Nutcracker
Carnivores, listen up. The delicious black bean burger with garlic aioli is worth foregoing meatier options — once in a while at least.
Bacon + Spiced Brie + Cranberry Jam Burger at Salt Water Cafe, Bandra (reserve now)
Forget crispy bacon as an add-on, Salt Water Café makes it the star, and this burger — a gorgeous, gorgeous mix of salty, spicy and sweet flavours — is the perfect stage for our favourite ingredient to shine on.
Pulled Pork Burger at Indigo Deli
Honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of the burgers at Indigo Deli, but if you’re a fan of barbeque pork (and who isn’t?) this is The One. The pork in this burger is tender and sweet, and it goes so well with the pickled onions served on the side.
Legendary blueFROG burger (reserve now)
One of the best burgers in town, blueFROG’s wood-fire grilled beef patty is made all the more perfect by your choice of add-ons – choose between (or have them all, do it!) bacon, egg, and cheese.
The Animal Burger at Ellipsis (reserve now)
Every part of this burger is brilliant – a perfectly done beef patty, melted cheddar, egg, pickled tomatoes, and the restaurant’s house-made animal sauce between soft brioche buns – what’s not to love?
