While a drink of Old Monk on the rocks or a snifter of cognac can make you feel warm on a cold winter evening, there is nothing as comforting as a steaming mug of a delicious, boozy concoction. Especially when you can make one in the warmth and comfort of your home.
Here are five home-made boozy drinks to keep you warm all winter long.
1) Hot Toddy
What you need: Boiling water, lemon, sugar, star anise pods and whiskey.
Why you should try it: Arguably the most famous hot cocktail of all times, it is also a foolproof remedy for a common cold.
2)Baileys Peppermint Cream
What you need: Hot chocolate, Baileys with a hint of mint chocolate and a dollop of whipped cream
Why you should try it: Not too boozy, it is the perfect drink to accompany a good read in bed and is way better than an Eggnog.
What you need: Red wine, a splash of bourbon and some cinnamon sticks.
Why you should try it: Cause there is no better way to use leftover wine, than to add some more liquor and a handful of spices to it. Serve it with roast chicken at your Christmas party and earn brownie points instantly.
What you need: Rum, cinnamon sticks, star anise pods, cloves and orange zest.
Why you should try it: Super easy to make, the home made version is way better than the artificial store-bought slosh.
5) Ginger-infused Champagne
What you need: Champagne, sugar, water, peeled and chopped ginger and a splash of vodka.
Why you should try it: Cause sipping on champagne is too mainstream.
