Pune, Sponsored Posts, WowTables Recommends
The al fresco area makes for fun seating by day and a cosy spot for a date night.
The food, on the other hand, is a conscious effort to offer patrons a taste of New York’s favourite comfort food. It is not surprising that the Pune eatery listed as one of Pune’s Best Restaurants by Conde Nast in 2015. Helmed by Chef Paul Kinny, whose biggest strength is his innovative approach to work – the kitchen at 212 All Day Cafe & Bar doles out a bevy of delights. Take the Soup Shots that seem like an interesting way to start off a meal. “NYC is famous for being a city of immigrants, a melting pot where the cuisine is inspired by cultures across the globe. The Mexican Tomato & Bean Soup Shots is my version of the popular South American soup served in NYC cafes,” says Chef Kinny.
When Chef Kinny isn’t busy putting together stellar dishes for Pune diners, he’s creating one-of-a-kind dining experiences for patrons through menu curation. The man who has an illustrious career spanning over two decades in the culinary space feels that menu curation is an interesting way to offer patrons some of the restaurant’s best foods. Moreover, it also helps encourage diners taste a greater variety of dishes than they’d usually do when ordering à la carte. This time round, the Chef has hand-picked a whole gamut of dishes for the WowTables 5 Course Experience at 212 All Day Café & Bar.“We have curated the menu keeping in mind the refined tastes of our patrons and the fact that WowTables caters to a younger, evolved diner. Most importantly, we are excited about the fact that the WowTables patron is someone who appreciates an experience that is tailor-made,” smiles Chef Kinny.
The idea behind this curated menu for WowTables was simple – to offer 212’s most recommended dishes on the menu. Chef Kinny further elaborates, “The signature 212 All Day experience is meant to transport the guest on a culinary journey to New York,” says the Chef. With a chic café appeal, warm interiors and an oasis-like alfresco, we are sure that a dining experience will be studded with memories of food that you ate in NYC, but this time, closer to home.
We asked to elaborate about his recommendations from the overall 212 menu, Chef Kinny listed out his must-haves:
Gambas Caliente
With small plates going big all over the Indian dining space, Chef Kinny gives a European twist to shrimps with his Gambas Caliente. Pan tossed shrimp with a delectable spicy garlic and paprika glaze, this one’s “the perfect bar snack that goes well with 212’s signature cocktails & house pours.”
Cajun Spiced Shrimps
Served with a side of potato mash, this entrée of mouth-watering Cajun Spiced Shrimps comes with a beurre blanc reduction that adds a richness that manages to be comforting yet indulgent.
Barbeque Chicken Pizza
A thin crust flatbread, this pizza is made with a sweet and spicy Mexican sauce as the base, again bringing to fore 212’s philosophy of offering the very best of NYC’s cuisine to diners. But what makes this succulent hand-pulled chicken pizza with white onion, green peppers and fresh ground pepper special is the fact that it is cooked on a stone hearth for a little under 9 minutes and served immediately. The result – a pizza that’s just the right amount of crisp and juicy.
If simply reading about these dishes, has got you craving for a bite (or two) then it would be a good time to point out that all these make it to the 212 WowTables experience! That’s not all, diners will also be able to dig into Triple Mudpie Cake, a personal favourite of the Chef. “Having a huge sweet tooth, the Triple Mudpie Cake is my version of the Little Pie Company’s Mudpie cake (that I tried during my visit to New York) and is my favorite,” says Chef Kinny, the sweetest sign off.
